Birthday Celebration Cupcakes

I made these fun cupcakes for a co-workers birthday today. They were mocha flavored cupcakes with vanilla cream cheese frosting. I just learned how to do the ribbon rose - I love the whimsical look. Luckily her name was four letters so it fit perfect in the cupcake carrier!

Rehearsal Dinner Cake Bites

A friend of mine is getting married this weekend in the Boston area. Since traveling with my cupcakes would be a little difficult, we decided that these cake bites would be a perfect addition to her Rehearsal Dinner. Guests will be able to take a box of each flavor as a gift upon leaving for the night.

The flavors were pink velvet cake with cream cheese frosting dipped in white chocolate and Chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting dipped in bittersweet chocolate. Each were drizzled with more chocolate and topped with fondant blossoms and dragees.

Graduation Cake

For my husband's graduation day I created this three tiered cake in his school colors of blue and white and added a bit of silver for some pizazz.

The bottom layer was made especially for him - Guinness chocolate cake with Guinness and caramel buttercream and bittersweet chocolate ganache.

The next two layers were coordinated with a wedding tasting I was also doing that weekend -
The middle layer was vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling.

The top layer, the cap, was coconut cake with coconut buttercream frosting.

Sculpted Purse Cake

During the Great American Cake Show, I participated in a Sculpted Purse class. The class was going fine until the second hour when I just completely wore out. Prior to this 3 hour class I was in another 3 hour class - which turned out to be too much! It was so hot and I was starving.

I actually can't believe that I am posting pics of this cake - Anyone who knows me will say, "Gold what's up with that?" That's how much I wanted to finish and get out of there - I spray painted my purse gold! Sorry Louis - it was supposed to be an homage to you and your great Speedy design!

Happy Birthday - Spring is in the Air - Cupcakes

This weekend I was asked to make some cupcakes for a friends wife. I was told that vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting were a must - so we decided in addition to those flavors we would also do chocolate cupcakes and raspberry buttercream. To customize the cupcakes, I used springtime cherry blossoms and baseballs - she is a huge Chicago Cubs fan.

Below are:
  • Chocolate Cupcakes with chocolate and raspberry Swiss meringue Buttercream topped with 2 sizes of spring time cherry blossoms.
  • Vanilla cupcakes chocolate and raspberry Swiss meringue buttercream topped with fondant baseballs and a couple Chicago Cubs emblems.
