Jungle Themed First Birthday

My nephew Colin turned one year old this past week. Everything he has is jungle themed so it was only natural to throw him a jungle party! Here are the invite and the cake I did for him.

The cake was vanilla with layers of Bavarian creme and fresh strawberries on the inside. The entire cake was then given a coating of vanilla buttercream frosting and then covered in homemade vanilla marshmallow fondant. I made the animals in advance out of store bought fondant. Since the fondant cake would not be as much fun to get all into, I made him a separate, individual size cake to go wild with!

Introducing Bliss Cupcakes and Company

I thought it would be fun to start a marketing effort around my cupcakes - I came up with Bliss Cupcakes and Company as the new name for my business that I still need to officially start. Since Bliss Cupcakes was already taken by someone in Australia, I added the "and Company" part - Worked for Tiffanys right?

Here are some new photos and logos made for me by my talented friend Calvin. Hopefully, if I get get my stuff together, a website will be coming soon.

Look for it at: www.blisscupcakesandcompany.com.

60th Wedding Anniversary

Here are photos from my grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary Party. The cake was three tiered, with white chocolate cake as the bottom and top layer and mocha cake as the middle layer. The entire cake was a frosted with ivory vanilla butter cream and filled with fresh raspberry butter cream and layers of fresh raspberries. I ended up making sugar roses to decorate the cake with. I was going for a more classic, almost vintage look and the dogwood blossoms didn't seem to go anymore.

We also put together the floral centerpieces which included ivory roses and (for lack of knowing the real names) an ivory "puff ball" flower. The tables also included a Hershey's take away, thank you gift re-labeled to match the rest of theme.

The invitation was printed on an ivory piece of card stock that included a shiny ivory border. I embellished the invite with an ivory satin ribbon and a crystal to signify the Diamond Anniversary.

Cupcakes of the Mini Kind

A co-worker of mine asked me to do some mini cupcakes for her meeting this week. They sure are cute but seem to be more work then the regular size ones - could that be? They are so little?

Second Round of Grad Cupcakes

Here are another round of grad cupcakes. This time I made my own fondant (from marshmallows and powder sugar) for the decorations. (Last time I used the premade from Wilton - which is not very yummy to eat. But the marshmallow fondant actually tastes good.) Now the caps and diplomas are edible!

Red Velvet Cupcakes with Marscapone and Cream Cheese Frosting
Mocha Spice Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting (These are becoming my favorite chocolate cupcake :)
